What is lamination?

Lamination is a form of plasticization; it is a very thin layer of plastic film applied to the paper.

This technique has several advantages:

  • It provides a protective layer for your cards, which gives them a long service life;
  • It embellishes your cards thanks to its matte effect;
  • It gives them a “silky” feel.

What is UV gloss spot varnish?

A UV gloss spot varnish (more commonly called “selective varnish”) is a varnish that is applied on certain elements of your cards that you want to bring out. The effect of brightening highlights will give contrast to your cards.

What is “four-colour” printing?

“Four-colour” is the abbreviated form of the term “four-colour process”. Four-colour printing is colour printing that makes it possible to reproduce a wide spectrum of colour from three colours, that is cyan, magenta, yellow (CMY), to which one adds black (K). For every four-colour printing, your files will have to be in CMYK mode. If you work in RGB, there is a risk that the colour of your documents will change in printing.

What is offset printing?

Offset printing denotes a flat printing process. This printing technique has the advantage of supplying a high-quality product with very sharp lines.

What type of file do I have to send?

For the printing of your cards, we need a PDF file (Acrobat format) in high definition (300 dpi). So that your cards will not be pixelated, we need your files to be vectorized (vectorizing is related to the transformation of an image point by point (pixels) into a vectorized image, consisting of geometric shapes (vectors)).

How can I vectorize my texts on Illustrator and save them in pdf format?

Vectorizing a text relates to the transformation of a point by point image (pixels) into a vectorized image, consisting of geometric shapes (vectors).

How can I create my selective varnishing files on Adobe Illustrator?
